Charis Vets offers neutering, breeding management and reproductive care for dogs and cats in Bahrain, with support for breeders as well as pet owners.
Neutering
Neutering prevents unwanted litters and can reduce the risk of some health and behaviour problems. For female dogs we offer keyhole (laparoscopic) spays, which usually mean a smaller wound and a quicker recovery. We also find and remove retained testicles in male dogs. Our vet will advise on the best timing for your pet.
Breeding management
For breeders, expert advice on breeding management and nutrition is key to success. Our services include:
- Progesterone testing to help time mating
- Natural assisted breeding
- Artificial insemination, including trans-cervical insemination
- Diagnosis and treatment of fertility problems
- Nutrition advice for breeding animals
Fertility problems
We provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to help with infertility problems in pets and farm animals.
Signs that need urgent care
Call us straight away if your pet is pregnant or giving birth and is straining without producing a puppy or kitten, is very weak, or has a foul-smelling discharge. An unspayed female that is drinking a lot, off her food or has a discharge may have a womb infection (pyometra), which is an emergency. See our emergency vet page.
